Have you been shopping for golf balls lately? It seems like there are more types and brands than you can count! It’s a huge business. Giants like Titleist, Callaway, and Nike do a brisk business. What is the difference between these different balls, with new ones coming out every week?
Personally I like to get used golf balls. I get my Pro V1′s at less than half the cost of new from a guy here in Scottsdale, and they’re near perfect. If you don’t have a source local to you, try online. There are several websites that sell used balls, and they’ll ship your purchase to you.
If you are a high handicap golfer, don’t bother with expensive balls. It’s a waste of money for any golfer with a handicap of 20 or higher. It won’t make a substantial difference to your game.
Instead, if you are in the high handicap category, save money on balls and instead purchase higher quality clubs, or lessons to improve your game. Then get your balls cheap at a sporting goods store or somewhere like Target.
If you have a business, consider having logo golf balls produced. This is a great marketing tool. People love them and they go over well at charity events, tournaments, and company functions. If you put your logo and business name on golf balls you’ll get great visibility.
Every lost ball then becomes marketing. Think of it. When you or one of your customers loses a ball with your logo on it, someone is going to find it. Someone who will then see your business name and logo.
You can get plenty fancy with custom balls, too. I’ve seen ones with names, photos, all kinds of things on them.
Some of the over-the-top balls are a bit obnoxious, but there’s something for everyone I guess. Regardless, golf balls are very popular and only getting more so. It looks like it’s going to be a strong seller for a while.
